Fast Rising Upstart and Industry Veteran Join Forces to Deliver the Most Comprehensive and Capable Technology Solution for Golf Associations and Clubs
MINNEAPOLIS, February 9 – Today, GOLF Intelligence (GI) announced it has signed a Letter of Intent for the acquisition of Star Plan Data Systems and all of its assets including the EAGLE handicapping and tournament management systems.
“Upon full examination of StarPlan’s proven technology and outstanding people, the decision to work together was a no-brainer,” said Erik Dyste, Vice President of GOLF Intelligence. “The combination of the NGN (National GOLF Network) and EAGLE systems will enable us to serve every club without any technology barriers.”
"The natural fit between our companies is obvious for the following reasons: Star Plan has long provided the industry's best local handicapping software and GI has recently emerged with the best Web-based software; Star Plan has long established relationships with state golf associations and GI has established relationships with many other organizations such as The Golf Channel, Golf Galaxy and the American Amateur Golf Tour to help these associations reach more golfers; and Star Plan is the current handicap service provider to the Golf Association of Ontario, the largest province in Canada where GI has recently been selected to develop and deploy a nationwide handicap network in partnership with the RCGA," said Bill Kravit, President of Star Plan Data Systems. “Together, we will be a very strong, positive force in the industry.”
Founded in 2000, GOLF Intelligence provides “Golf Life Management™” services to golfers through golf associations, clubs, organizations and businesses. The company’s National GOLF Network and RCGA Network are the largest online communities for active golfers, serving more than 2,500 golf clubs in the United States and Canada.
Founded in 1968, Star Plan provides quality handicapping, tournament and league management, and tee time reservation software to golf clubs through leading golf associations. The company’s software was licensed to the PGA of America in 1991. This software was recently re-developed to best serve golf associations, clubs, leagues, tournaments, and PGA golf professionals.
“StarPlan has excellent relationships with its golf association customers,” said John Montague, CEO and Founder of GOLF Intelligence. “These relationships will provide a good foundation for us to demonstrate the superiority of our systems and services. We are committed to do whatever it takes to help our customers be successful in this increasingly competitive economy.”
